toki pona has five words to describe amounts;
ala, wan, tu, mute, ale
meaning nothing, one, two, many, everything.
the reason it works like this is because counting is unnecessary. often explaining the quantity will tell the listener more than a number would.
you can use the particle nanpa before a number to express an ordinal number.
